Assessment and self-esteem of today’s youth. Analytics.

I’m 14 years old, I’m in 7th grade. At school, I often hear self-criticism from my classmates, and not only the smart ones criticize themselves, but also the not-so-sophisticated ones. And so I began to wonder what it was? and what causes this. I decided to hold a social.survey.
I interviewed 8 people (including myself). Of these there were 4 boys and 4 girls. Of them, two boys and two girls were not stupid and quite cute. And the rest are pretty mediocre.

The questionnaire contained 6 questions: 1. You are smart(i)? Why?2. You are beautiful (me)? Why?3. Name 3 character traits of yours.4. I’m smart? Why?5. I’m beautiful? Why?6. Three traits of my character.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Subject #1 (it was me)
First I’ll tell you about myself. Answering the first question, we can say that I am still smart. This is indicated not only by my grades and successes, but also by the fact that my general level of development is often higher than others. Everything is obvious here.
But beauty and cuteness are a very subjective matter. I like myself. Yes. But not really, but I don’t want to puke (the only exception is in the morning).
My character is not simple, or rather unusual. I have a different view than most on obvious (and not so obvious) things. And I behave eccentrically with people. Many are even offended.
So before the survey, I was even more interested in how they would evaluate me than how they would respond about themselves.

P.s Anticipating possible questions: I am an excellent student, I recently entered the best lyceum in Kuzbass.

Subject #2.
His name is Ilya. He looks like an ordinary boy with ordinary problems. He’s not stupid, I would even say he’s not stupid at all. But nothing is ordinary.
His appearance is also quite ordinary: a little plump, round, freckled face..
His character is funny, but at the same time simple. Sometimes he can behave like a redneck, and sometimes he even surprises me somewhere and shows his best side. In general, it is quite clear that he has no obvious reasons for complexes. But… (hereinafter in the questionnaires verbatim quotes will be given)

1.No, because I’m not an excellent student.
2.No, I’m embarrassed by my appearance.
3.Hot-tempered, cheerful, mischievous.
4.Yes, you entered the lyceum.
5.Yes (no explanation)
6.Calm, restless, arrogant.

Subject #3.
His name is Evgeniy. He can be classified as narrow-minded; he studies poorly, is lazy, and doesn’t care about almost everything. And his appearance is quite average. And the character is spontaneous and cowardly. But I admit that sometimes you can communicate quite well with him.

1.Yes, I have a lot of https://lowdeposit-casinos.co.uk/review/bubbles-bet/ knowledge.(something I didn’t notice approx.author)
2.Don’t know.
3.Kind, polite, hot-tempered.
4.Yes, because I’m an excellent student.
5.Yes.
6.Hot-tempered, kind, polite.

Subject #4.
His name is Pasha. He is similar in many ways to the previous test subject. He studies as poorly as No. 3, is lazy, doesn’t care about the future. Appearance is again ordinary: tall, thin, with a bowl-length hairstyle. But he has one good character trait – he is a good friend and not a redneck. This is important in these times.

1.Average, I’m a bad student.
2.Yes
3.Cheerful, calm, kind.
4.Yes, you know everything.
5.Yes
6.Kind, sympathetic, calm

Subject #5.
Her name is Nastya. She’s smart, quick-witted. Pleasant appearance, although unusual. Her character is responsive and pleasant, but quick-tempered and she is a little messy and modest… But the overall impression she leaves is very, very good.

1.No, lazy.(all lies;) approx. author)
2.No, I don’t know.
3.Kind, not neat, hot-tempered.
4.Yes
5.(no response)
6.Don’t know.(I’m a secret agent)

Subject #6.
Her name is Nadya. The girl is narrow-minded, but not a redneck. Appearance is simple, unremarkable. Character: simple, mischievous, explosive, psychotic.

1.Yes, I don’t know.(yes or I don’t know)?)
2.Yes, nature has gifted.
3.Nightmare, kind, funny.
4.Yes, excellent student.
5.Yes
6.Kind, sympathetic, optimistic.

Subject #7.
Her name is Marina. She is also a simple girl, but sometimes she shows signs of being a redneck, but it is quite possible to communicate with her. The mind is mediocre. She’s a little plump, but that doesn’t really spoil her, she has her own “zest”. Character, I repeat, simple, cheerful, well, in general, ordinary.

1.Yes, I know a lot.
2.Yes.
3.disgusting, harmful, sentimental.(what self-criticism! Man!)
4.Yes.
5.Yes.
6.Harmful, submerged, different.(to the point)

Subject #8.
Her name is Sasha. I would like to dwell on it in more detail. This is perhaps the most interesting and unusual person I have had the honor of knowing(not counting me of course). She’s smart, almost like me ;). Everything is ok with external data too. And the character… well, the bomb. Hot-tempered and calm, mischievous and immersed, cheerful and melancholic. Overall good: both the figure and the soul).

1.Yes, logical mindset.
2.Yes, compared to others.
3.Funny, pervert(yes that’s what she said), optimistic.
4.Yes, I entered the lyceum.
5.Yes.
6.Modest, kind, not good at understanding people(WTF??)

Now I’ll try to understand the answers and find a pattern:
1. Self-esteem: Today’s teenagers evaluate themselves very subjectively. What’s interesting: smart and beautiful, they underestimate the reality of both boys and girls (except in rare cases) Moreover, the most difficult thing for them was to come up with reasons for their cleverness (which is obvious) and they turned out not quite adequate. And your description. It was difficult for everyone, without exception, to come up with three epithets about themselves, this is due either to not knowing them or not knowing oneself.

Conclusion: It’s better not to evaluate yourself, if you want to know the truth, ask someone else.

2. But grade turned out to be surprisingly objective, for everyone. Apparently the one who said was right: “It’s clearer from the outside”. After this survey, of course, I didn’t discover America for myself, but I learned something new about myself. Only, as expected, it was strained with adequate arguments, and where would they come from?? They teach this at school mediocrely, and even then many don’t really delve into it, and many have a cavity in their brains.

Conclusion: you know better from the outside, but you’ll have to come up with arguments yourself.
