It happens that you finish a game, spend several hours on it and just can’t understand why it exists. Games based on films and cartoons are being released less and less often, but if they do appear, it is most often due to the release of films of the same name in cinemas. But what the creators wanted to achieve Nickelodeon Kart Racers – unclear.
What year is it now??
And it’s not so much about the quality of this racing arcade, which I’ll talk about a little later, but about its content. In total, 12 characters are offered here, taken from animated series Nickelodeon: "SpongeBob SquarePants", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Hey Arnold!» And "Oh, these kids!». If the first two are more or less well-known among modern children, then only a few probably know about the last two – their last episodes were published back in 2004. You and I remember them, but the target audience of this creation is unlikely.
I naively assumed that Nickelodeon Kart Racers will be a trip back to childhood, an opportunity to feel nostalgic for the times when I was ready to get up early to watch these cartoons (except "Oh, these kids!» – he has a very unique style). But the result turned out to be completely different – this is the most ordinary race, which scares away the low quality of execution already in the start menu and does not bring any emotions at all. No joy, no anger – nothing.
This is largely due to the fact that there is practically no difference between the characters. They have their own vehicles, some power-ups in the cubes on the track are available only to certain heroes, but otherwise the game would not lose anything if SpongeBob and Arnold were ordinary people, robots or animals together. The only thing that tells you that you are driving Donatello is the model sitting in the car – replace it with any other one, and the result will be the same.
This is how you can describe the https://rockbetcasino.co.uk/withdrawal/ whole game as a whole, especially the tracks. The environment is taken from the same cartoon series: the school where Arnold studies, a toy store and many monotonous sewers. But everything looks as boring as possible, there is no atmosphere at all, and the graphics are so bad that sometimes it is very difficult to understand which way to go after the next turn. There seems to be a mini-map and signs on the walls, but sometimes problems still arise – everything gets mixed up in one pile.
Poor and wretched
Gameplay Nickelodeon Kart Racers no different from other imitators Mario Kart. There are only three modes in the main menu: a four-race championship, a quick race and a time trial where you try to beat your own records. In championships, 10 characters earn points several times in a row depending on their place, after which the owner of the most points is declared the winner.
On the tracks there are cubes with questions depicted on them – if you drive through one of them, a bonus power-up will become available. You will either throw an object, or place a jar of soap bubbles in the middle of the road, or for a few seconds, install a shield on the back of the car that absorbs other people’s attacks. The set is so meager and banal, as if none of the developers even tried to come up with something original – they just took everything that had already been invented before them. And if someone takes damage from your projectile or falls into a trap, you won’t know about it – there are no special effects here.
The only good idea is related to the slime – if you drive over this green substance, the acceleration bar on the left side of the screen will begin to fill. Some tracks are almost completely filled with slime, and when hit by it, a land vehicle amusingly transforms into a boat with a motor. But all this, of course, is not enough to not get bored after just a few races – although there are knockout races and a kind of slalom with the need to pass to the right or left of the buoys, everything is played absolutely the same.
There are also coins scattered around the tracks, which are needed to purchase improvements, including wheel and engine upgrades. With their help, speed increases, driving the car becomes easier, and with good tires you won’t skid as much when driving through slime. But there’s no need for all this – at a high level of difficulty I was able to win the championship with an ordinary jalopy, without modifying it in any way. Even there, opponents crash into walls and fall into traps, to say nothing of easy tournaments, where opponents are even more stupid and helpless.
There is no more content in the game, the authors didn’t even bother to add an introductory video. Last year’s Cars 3 also lacked stars from the sky and gave far from the same emotions that you get after a couple of races in Mario Kart, but at least they tried to offer a lot of interesting entertainment. There’s nothing to do outside of the dull championships, but they still ask for $40 for the game, although even if it was given out for free, it wouldn’t be of any value.
Here we tried to do everything as budget as possible. In press releases they promise you 24 tracks – in fact, half of them are no different from each other. The characters don’t speak at all; instead of voiced lines, you need to read the text in the “clouds” that appear at the bottom of the screen. Animations repeat after the first lap, the music gets boring, there is no online multiplayer. There is a split screen mode, at least thanks for that. But with such graphics you will get confused in turns even more often than when playing alone.
It is unlikely that we will ever know why it was created Nickelodeon Kart Racers. Possibly the President Nickelodeon lost an argument with colleagues? Or his friends took him “weakly”? Modern children are not interested in these characters; adults would be ashamed to spend time here. What happened is pure garbage: empty, primitive and unworthy of attention.
